Just a quick note to tell you all that I've finally managed to get my modem to work in Ubuntu Hardy Heron, and I'm alive and kicking on Linux now. Juste un petit mot pour vous dire tout ce que j'ai finalement réussi à obtenir mon modem pour fonctionner dans Ubuntu Hardy Heron, et je suis bien vivant sur Linux maintenant.
I've wanted to use Linux for a long time now, but hesitated because my modem didn't work. J'ai voulu utiliser Linux depuis longtemps maintenant, mais hésitait parce que mon modem ne fonctionne pas. After searching online and hacking some configuration files in Ubuntu, I got the modem to finally work (thanks to Après une recherche en ligne et le piratage des fichiers de configuration dans Ubuntu, j'ai eu le modem fonctionne enfin (merci à Shankar Shankar for tips on gedit and sudo and pour des conseils sur gedit et sudo et DJFlush DJFlush for many other tips). pour beaucoup d'autres trucs).
As you can see from the preceding paragraphs, I'm very excited about Ubuntu, and will be writing about Ubuntu applications, tips and hacks in future. same happened with me…when i was not able to switch to linux just because my utstar adsl modem does not work with linux…but now i have a netgear adsl modem…will be soon having linux on my machine Même chose avec moi ... quand je n'étais pas en mesure de passer à Linux juste parce que mon modem adsl utstar ne fonctionne pas avec Linux ... mais maintenant j'ai un modem adsl Netgear ... sera bientôt avoir linux sur ma machine

Knowing that the OS will not crap out and require 12 reboots per day. Sachant que l'OS va pas de la merde et exigent 12 redémarrages par jour. Knowing that you won't need antivirus. I've been contemplating dual booting with Ubuntu since sometime now but haven't been able to do it for the fact that I'm tied up with many things and ofcourse, procrastination. J'ai été en contemplant le double amorçage avec Ubuntu depuis quelques temps, mais n'ont pas été en mesure de le faire pour le fait que je suis lié à beaucoup de choses et bien entendu, la procrastination.

I too had installed Ubuntu few days back and also managed to configure TATA indicom on it. Moi aussi j'avais installé Ubuntu quelques jours en arrière et a également réussi à configurer TATA Indicom sur elle. Its really cool working on it, but the support for applications need to be more, only then it can become more popular. Its really cool à travailler dessus, mais le support pour les applications doivent être plus, alors seulement il peut devenir plus populaire. Robust security is one thing I liked on Ubuntu. But I have to slightly disagree with you on hanged apps. Mais je dois léger désaccord avec vous sur Apps pendu. I did have firefox getting hang many times on Ubuntu, not sure what was the real cause. @Ashutosh: You should try Linux too – especially if you have a standard broadband modem (which will work out of the box). @ Ashutosh: Vous devriez essayer Linux aussi - surtout si vous avez un modem haut débit standard (qui travaillera hors de la boîte).
@Abhijeet: Ubuntu install takes less time than Windows – I'm not sure why you're still hesitant. @ Abhijeet: Ubuntu installation prend moins de temps que Windows - Je ne sais pas pourquoi vous êtes encore hésitant. Note that dual boots may cause problems like loss of one OS if the other is wiped/reinstalled – that's something I look forward to finding a solution to. Notez que les bottes double mai causer des problèmes comme la perte d'un système d'exploitation si l'autre est effacé / réinstallé - c'est quelque chose que j'ai hâte de trouver une solution.
@Nirmal: Glad you could get everything working. @ Nirmal: Je suis heureux que vous pourriez faire fonctionner tout. The only problem for me was the modem – everything else works fine. Le seul problème pour moi, c'était le modem - tout fonctionne else fine. As for Firefox, I am not sure why you had hangs – it probably is because of extensions. Comme pour Firefox, je ne sais pas pourquoi vous avez dû tomber - c'est probablement parce que des extensions. Besides, Firefox is slow in Linux too, although a good bit less than Windows D'ailleurs, Firefox est lent sous Linux aussi, bien qu'un peu moins bonne que sous Windows
I've been using Ubuntu for over a year now. J'utilise Ubuntu depuis plus d'un an maintenant.

after breaking my head for configuring the display on Ubuntu Hardy, and multiple re-installation I came back to Windows again. après avoir cassé la tête pour la configuration de l'affichage sur Ubuntu Hardy, et re-installation de multiples je suis revenu à Windows.
