Ubuntu 9.10 alpha has been around for some time now, and final version will be released later this year. Some general instructions before getting started: hit left/right arrow to move from one option to another. Open Parallels Desktop and click File > New Virtual Machine. Open Parallels Desktop et cliquez sur Fichier> Nouveau Virtual Machine. 
Choose CD/DVD image and point to the ISO file you downloaded. Choisissez CD / DVD image et pointez sur le fichier ISO téléchargé. 
Name it Ubuntu 9.10 (include the version number so as to identify it easily). Nommez-la Ubuntu 9.10 (inclure le numéro de version, afin de l'identifier facilement). 
Upon clicking “Start”, the installation will begin. En cliquant sur "Démarrer", l'installation commencera. 
Choose your language and hit Enter. Choisissez votre langue et appuyez sur Entrée. 
“Install Ubuntu” will be selected by default, hit enter again. "Install Ubuntu" sera sélectionnée par défaut, appuyez sur Entrée à nouveau. 
English will be selected as the language, hit Enter again. L'anglais sera choisie comme la langue, pressez la touche Entrée à nouveau. 
Choose your country and hit enter. Choisissez votre pays et appuyez sur Entrée. 
For keyboard layout, choose No (by using left/right arrow) and hit enter. Pour le clavier, choisissez Non (en utilisant les flèches gauche / droite) et appuyez sur Entrée. 
If you use a standard keyboard, choose USA under “Origin of keyboard”. Si vous utilisez un clavier standard, choisissez États-Unis sous la rubrique "Origine du clavier."

The installer will proceed, with a progress bar. Le programme d'installation va procéder, avec une barre de progression. 
If you are on a home network, enter any name, I choose Ubuntu. Si vous êtes sur un réseau domestique, entrez un nom, j'ai choisi Ubuntu. Hit enter. Appuyez sur Entrée. 
Select the region and city, to configure the clock. Sélectionnez la région et la ville, pour configurer l'horloge. 
For partition, choose “Guided – entire disk”, which will be the default option. Pour les partitions, choisissez "guidée - disque entier", qui sera l'option par défaut. Hit enter. Appuyez sur Entrée. 
Ensure that the disk chosen has the words “Virtual HDD” in it. Assurez-vous que le disque a choisi les mots "disque dur virtuel» en elle. 
Confirm partitioning by choosing “No” and hitting enter. Confirmer le cloisonnement en choisissant «Non» et la touche Entrée.

It is a good idea to update all software (and do so every week or so) – the advantage of Linux is the frequent security updates and patches.
