Often, software and movie downloads will have a file with a .nfo extension. Such files are set to open with the Windows System Information. However, you may receive an error “System information cannot open this NFO file”
Actually, NFO files found with movies and software is simple text files with information related to software.
What is .nfo File
NFO file contains release, version and author information. You would usually get such files with P2P/warez downloads. The people who upload the files add NFO files for credit.

Open NFO file
NFO files can be opened and viewed using either a text editor (NotePad). However, there exists software specifically for .nfo files – like Damn NFO Viewer.
