I thought so – there are all kinds of crazy people. Ik dacht zo - er zijn allerlei gekke mensen. If you're not in the mix, let me explain this a bit. - Installing Linux on a Macbook is stupid (there are cheap Windows-based laptops that you can use for Ubuntu) Het installeren van Linux op een Macbook is dom (er zijn goedkope Windows-gebaseerde laptops die u kunt gebruiken voor Ubuntu)
What do you say? Wat zeg je? If you had a Macbook (or have), would you do the same? Als je een Macbook gehad (of hebben), zou u niet hetzelfde doen? Well, why would you buy a cheap non-Macbook with worse hardware and production if you can afford a Macbook which is usually very long lasting and has great software, some people also love its design. Sure, you could as well get a Lenovo with the same hardware which as well would probably be as good produced as the Macbook, if not better, for less money and install your Linux distro there. Afaik, Lenovo, Dell and Mac are simply the best notebook producers considering hardware-support under Linux.. AFAIK, Lenovo, Dell en Mac zijn gewoon de beste notebook-producenten overwegen hardware-support onder Linux .. and the fact that MacOSX itself is a UNIX-based system just makes this more logical. en het feit dat MacOSX zelf is een UNIX-gebaseerd systeem maakt dit alleen maar meer logisch. You can probably run almost any other UNIX OS on a Macbook and have almost as good hardware support as with MacOSX. Je kunt waarschijnlijk draaien bijna alle andere UNIX OS op een Macbook en zijn bijna zo goed als hardware-ondersteuning met MacOSX.
And except of buying a Win-Laptop for installing Linux onto it, you could also buy a cheap Windows Notebook and install MacOSX on it, with a few hacks.. I doubt Dell's build quality on some models like Inspiron, though XPS is superb. Ik betwijfel Dell kwaliteit bouwen op sommige modellen zoals Inspiron, XPS al is superb. As for Mac OS X, Lifehacker has a hacking tutorial, but it wouldn't run very well on slower laptops. Wat voor Mac OS X, Lifehacker heeft een hack tutorial, maar het zou niet erg goed lopen op langzamere laptops.

I do not agree to this point. Ik ga niet akkoord om dit punt. Say for eg, I have a Mac book and I'ma fan of Linux, then you mean to say, I should spend 30k to buy a cheap Windows laptop and install it there? Zeg voor bv, ik heb een Mac boek en ik ben een fan van Linux, dan kun je zeggen, zou ik doorbrengen 30k naar een goedkope Windows-laptop kopen en te installeren daar? Each one has their own interest in Linux. Ieder heeft zijn eigen belang in Linux.

@Nirmal: If you're a non-geek or non-programmer, you'd probably be at home with Mac OS X. Its just my thought, and I'm not saying that anyone else will think like this. @ Nirmal: Als je een niet-of niet-geek programmeur, zou je waarschijnlijk thuis met Mac OS X. I disagree with you as well. Ik ben het oneens met u als goed. Ubuntu isn't made for only cheap Windows-based laptops. Ubuntu is niet gemaakt voor alleen goedkope Windows-gebaseerde laptops. It's as much royal as OSX or Vista and so there is no harm or stupidity in trying it out on a Macbook. Het is zo veel als koninklijke OSX of Vista, en dus is er geen schade of domheid om te proberen het uit op een Macbook.

Nowhere in his comment does he mention that he was “unsatisfied with OS X”. Nergens in zijn commentaar heeft hij gezegd dat hij "ontevreden met OS X".
There is no rule which says Ubuntu cannot/should not be installed on a Mac. Er is geen regel die zegt cant Ubuntu / moeten niet worden geïnstalleerd op een Mac. As Ashutosh says above, Ubuntu isn't made for cheap windows-based laptops only. Zoals Ashutosh zegt hierboven, is Ubuntu niet gemaakt voor goedkope windows-gebaseerde laptops alleen.
There could be numerous reasons why he has installed Ubuntu on his Macbook. Er kunnen tal van redenen waarom hij heeft geïnstalleerd Ubuntu op zijn Macbook. Last weekend, I put Ubuntu on my Macbook, which came very cheap for me (someone gave it to me). Afgelopen weekend heb ik Ubuntu op mijn Macbook, die afkomstig waren zeer goedkoop voor mij (iemand gaf die aan mij). But I removed it after two hours, after: Maar ik verwijderd na twee uur, na:

2. 2. Suspend-to-RAM didn't seem to kick in. Suspend-to-RAM niet scheen te schoppen inch
3. 3. Bootup took 3 times as much time as OS X did Opstarten duurde 3 keer zoveel tijd als OS X heeft
4. 4. Rosegarden/Ardour just didn't come close to GarageBand Rosegarden / Ardour gewoon niet dicht bij GarageBand
On my desktop, I stick with Ubuntu. Op mijn bureaublad, blijf ik met Ubuntu.

I bought my macbook for two reasons Ik kocht mijn macbook om twee redenen
1) It would run Linux 1) Het zou draaien Linux
2) With an educational discount I get it for just under the price of a standard laptop, but i do get a few bells and whistles (and of course the opportunity to use Mac OS on a machine less than 10 years old…) 2) Met een educatieve korting krijg ik het voor net onder de prijs van een standaard laptop, maar ik krijg een paar toeters en bellen (en natuurlijk de mogelijkheid om Mac OS te gebruiken op een machine die minder dan 10 jaar oud ...)
Two weeks went by as I thoroughly enjoyed Mac OS (For that brief period I thought it was the absolute best OS out there – a true short-term mac fanboy.) Once reality set in again and I got annoyed that I couldn't change certain things and that non-mac os specific software needed X11 which makes things run slow and ugly I decided to stick ubuntu on it. Twee weken gingen voorbij als ik genoten Mac OS (Voor de korte periode dat ik dacht dat het was absoluut de beste OS daar - een echte korte termijn mac fanboy.) Zodra de werkelijkheid die in weer en kreeg ik geïrriteerd dat ik niet kan veranderen bepaalde dingen en dat niet-Mac OS-specifieke software nodig X11 waardoor dingen lopen traag en lelijk ik besloten te houden ubuntu op. I whiped mac OS off (though I could've dual booted) and put ubuntu on and never looked back. Ik whiped mac OS uit (hoewel ik kon heb dubbele opstarten) en zet ubuntu op en keek nooit terug. Only thing to bear in mind is the new santa-rosa macbooks do have more issues and need ugly hacks (if you consider ndis-wrapper ugly) to make things work. Alleen ding in gedachten te houden is de nieuwe santa rosa-MacBooks hebben meer problemen en behoefte lelijke hacks (indien u van mening NDIS-wrapper lelijke) om dingen te laten werken.

when you install ubuntu. bij het installeren van Ubuntu. somethings dosnt work. Somethings dosnt werk. b/c the mac cd have the bootcamp drivers for windows (is only that windows will not provide you so mac is giving it for free). b / c de mac cd hebben de bootcamp drivers voor Windows (is alleen dat Windows niet zal je zo mac bieden is waardoor het gratis). but for ubuntu some of the drivers comes with it but some of them like wireless or sound drivers and the major thing, right click you have to install them manually. ubuntu maar voor een deel van de automobilisten komt met haar, maar sommige van hen als draadloze of geluid bestuurders en de belangrijkste ding, klik met de rechtermuisknop je moet ze handmatig installeren. just search online and you are able to do it. gewoon zoeken online en u in staat bent om het te doen.
my macbook is working fine. mijn macbook werkt prima. i love it. I love it. its worth it with osx and ubuntu both. zijn de moeite waard met OSX en Ubuntu beide. thanks to open source users. dankzij de open source gebruikers.
