TinyURL might have been among the earliest URL shortening services, but it certainly is no tiny URL any more. Shorter domain names like bit.ly, tr.im and is.gd have come up. However, even they are no longer the shortest URL shorteners around!
In this article, I introduce you to 3 of the shortest URL shorteners around. Of course, one or two characters less may not seem a big deal, but if you are a regular Twitter user, you too may have had situations where the tweet was just a couple of characters longer than is allowed and you are struggling to make the tweet any shorter by modifying words in it. In such situations, these handy 3 character(including TLD) shorteners come handy.
u.nu
u.nu has already been featured on TechZilo. It has a easy-to-use interface, and simplicity is its selling point.

It also has a bookmarklet, which seems more of a norm than an option now. It, however lacks statistics that many other services provide.
j.mp
j.mp shares the bit.ly backend, so you get the same interface and statistics, among other things.

p.ly
Short for re.p.ly, this shortener provides statistics, tracks comments from social websites which use the shortened URL and the original URL (longest one). You can also create temporary links and password-protect them.

It also happens to be among the better-designed shorteners.
