Finally, I have made up my mind to start one of those links round-up posts. I have been hesitating to do this, because of two reasons – I had a false belief that they are useless, and more importantly, because I believed that a link from a comparitively new blog(just 4 months old) may not be valued by anyone. However, some budding bloggers questioned why I kept soliciting incoming links, despite not doing any link-love. I thought over it, and here is the answer – there will be link love from now on. You do not have to link back or anything. Just read and appreciate posts by others too.
The title would be Linkerati – something weird, something special.
Here, you will find a list of top posts published here at TechZilo over the past month, as well as links to some good blog posts by others. Don’t expect any links to A-Listers, because you have probably read that already. This is my quest to share the gems of the blogosphere – the unsung heroes. If you have been reading any good new blogs(or your own blog), whom you would recommend to everyone, do let me know through your comments – I love discovering new blogs.

August brought moderate success (I hate making statements like “great month” without anything to show). Some posts were stumbled heavily, and is still bringing in amounts of traffic that makes me smile, while some others got good traffic from search results(73% Google).
Here are the popular posts from August, in case you missed it:
- Is domination of FeedBurner and WordPress good: The result of a brainstorming session by yours truly, this post brought in comments from some experts and popular bloggers, including a developer of Habari. It was linked to on many link love posts too.
- Greasemonkey scripts to rock GMail: A list of useful Greasemonkey scripts to beautify the GMail interface, increase its functionality etc.
- HOWTO: Add smileys in GMail: GMail lacks smileys, shockingly so. Here is a fix. This post has good SERPs
- Have you optimized your blog code: The “why” and “how-to” steamrolled into one post, it was inspired by a couple of articles by Paul Stamatiou. Stumbled heavily.
- HOWTO: Customise More tag in WordPress: Get rid of that boring old “Read more…” linktext on WordPress blogs.
- The best WordPress permalink structure: Originated from a distinguished school of thought, this post shows you which permalink structure is best, and why and how to use it.
This list is rather short, primarily owing to my lower frequency of posting. However, I plan to speed up posting a bit, especially as some folk complained “It is frustrating to see no new content when I go to his blog”.
These are some posts that I enjoyed reading last month. This list is by no means exhaustive, and was compiled quickly. To be added to next list, just buzz me!
- Ashwini analyzes the right time to grab for that spanking new design.
- : Nirmal tells us about an extension to manage tabs in Firefox. (I personally use tabgroups extension).
- Shankar tells us about a lightweight domain lookup app.
- Michael tells us about Ajah plugin for WordPress to paginate comments.(you forgot to use the term “paginate”, Michael
) - Christian talks about his writing style.
- Rishi shows us how to remove the commonly hated nofollow tag from comment links.
- Benedict lists out 4 tools to integrate Flickr to your blog(no, its not just the damn plugin you see everywhere).
Hope you enjoyed these posts – and it should occupy you for a while, hopefully until my next post(sooner). Do let me (and everyone else) know of any new, good blogs out there bustling with content but no traffic.

Problem is, he is too lazy, and the hack has as much chance of a release now as next year. Hope it comes out soon.
