Google Analytics is one of the most popular, and preferred blog and site metrics tool, from Google.

The stat scripts have been excellent, and is the preferred choice of site stat tool for most. It has been so widely recognized that most bloggers recommend it as the best free stat service. I have seen quite a few number of recommendations for it, as a matter of fact.

MySpace reaches agreement to acquire Photobucket

MySpace, the popular social networking site that is growing quickly, and has become a rage among the youth has reached an agreement for the acquisition of Photobucket. Photobucket and MySpace are leaders in their respective categories. The deal values Photobucket at $250 million(in cash).

Photobucket is unique in the world of image-sharing, because it functions more like a cheap image host rather than a social network like Flickr. This allows users of MySpace, FaceBook, Bebo, eBay, Blogger etc., many of which do not provide image hosting space.

Rumours of acquisition by Microsoft pushes up Yahoo shares

Shares of Yahoo rose by 19 percent, after reports of the company’s merger with Microsoft. Apparently, the winner was Yahoo, having resisted a take-over, but benefitting from higher stock prices.

It was momentary, though. The prices were back to normal, once reports came out that there would be no merger, but joint-venture to take on Google, their common enemy. Meanwhile, Microsoft shares dropped over 1 percent.

Dell signs agreement with Microsoft and Novell

Dell will work with Microsoft and Novell(which owns Suse Linux) under an agreement that Novell and Microsoft had formed last year to make it Windows and Ubuntu work together. Dell had announced they would use Ubuntu for their computers. Dell seems to be going the Linux way more now.

Microsoft would offer corporates(and not us poor customers) license Windows in a package which support Suse Linux.

FeedBurner adopts Feed Redirection Plugin, now renamed FeedBurner FeedSmith

FeedBurner FeedSmith is the newest weapon in FeedBurner’s arsenal of weapons(no, not the destructive type).

Probably the most popular feed-related plugin for WordPress users, FeedSmith is just the old Feed Redirection Plugin by Steve Smith, rechristened and rebranded as FeedSmith. From now on, FeedSmith will be maintained and updated by FeedBurner.

Feed Redirection plugin works by some PHP stuff and user-agent detection, to redirect all feed requests to the FeedBurner feed. It can even redirect your existing subscribers. Amazing, eh?
