“Silence can say more than a thousand words” - thus begins the site OneDayBlogSilence. It proposes complete silence on May 30 in the blogosphere, in memory of those ~30 unfortunate souls who were shot dead by Cho Seung Hui at the Viriginia Tech college.

A creative idea by the site, no doubt. But many bloggers think differently. They voice their concerns that this incident alone should not be brought into focus. Some even say that honouring them alone is a disrespect towards their families.

My thoughts

Blogs are sources of knowledge, conversation and arguments. This hyped-affair of shutting out blogs on a particular day seems absurd. Many bloggers have responded, saying that their blogs will be active as usual.

Personally, I would rather read blogs that speak up on the issue. What are your thoughts?
