Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that Microsoft will soon unveil their latest OS, Windows Cloud. Windows Cloud isn’t the final product name, and may not be suitable for everyone. Ballmer insisted that it will not move Office suite to the web.
Cloud is apparently designed for developers who want to write software for cloud-computing (web applications like Gmail, Google reader etc.). This could herald a change in the way we look at operating systems – perhaps the operating system will not be as important as it is now, when most applications you use will be web-based.
Ballmer did not give away more details, preferring to be quiet about further details. Ballmer said that Microsoft will unveil further details about the Cloud OS at s Professional Developers Conference in LA later this month.
Windows Cloud is a developed separately from Windows 7, the successor of Windows Vista.
