Microsoft will release six security on next Patch Tuesday(Patch Tuesday=day full of patches).

There will be two patches for Windows, three for MS Office, and one for Exchange(wonder why there are 2 patches for Vista, what with their improved security?).

The Malicious Software Removal Tool will be the updated as usual.

Microsoft has given no clues of the vulnerabilities being patched. Buying time against hackers, so that they won’t try a work-around for the patch, aren’t you, M$?

On to the other corporate giant, Yahoo is shutting down Yahoo Photos in favour of its recently acquired Flickr service.

Users will be offered various options to move out of Yahoo Photos, including Flickr(obviously), Photobucket, Kodak Gallery(a veteran in the field, but has been fading for some time) etc.

Yahoo Photos’ market share has been going to around 5.8 per cent of the US market. But Flickr has grown to 4.5 per cent, up from 3.7 per cent, according to Hitwise data. This is one of the reasons for the shut-out.

As for Photobucket, its one down, one to go! But Flickr is going to be a tough nut to crack, if at all it can be cracked.
