Just a quick note to tell you all that I've finally managed to get my modem to work in Ubuntu Hardy Heron, and I'm alive and kicking on Linux now. Bara en snabb anteckning att säga er alla att jag har äntligen lyckats få mitt modem att fungera i Ubuntu Hardy Heron och jag lever och sparkar på Linux nu.
I've wanted to use Linux for a long time now, but hesitated because my modem didn't work. Jag har velat använda Linux för en lång tid nu, men tvekade eftersom modemet inte fungerade. After searching online and hacking some configuration files in Ubuntu, I got the modem to finally work (thanks to Efter att söka på nätet och hacka några konfigurationsfiler i Ubuntu, fick jag modemet att slutligen arbeta (tack vare Shankar Shankar for tips on gedit and sudo and för tips om gedit och sudo och DJFlush DJFlush for many other tips). för många andra tips).

same happened with me…when i was not able to switch to linux just because my utstar adsl modem does not work with linux…but now i have a netgear adsl modem…will be soon having linux on my machine Samma sak hände med mig ... när jag kunde inte byta till Linux bara för att min utstar ADSL-modem inte fungerar med Linux ... men nu har jag ett Netgear ADSL modem ... kommer snart att ha Linux på min maskin
@Ajay: What's so special? @ Ajay: Vad är så speciellt? Knowing that you're using software that is created by the community. Att veta att du använder program som skapats av samhället. Knowing that the OS will not crap out and require 12 reboots per day. Att veta att OS inte kommer skiten ut och kräva 12 omstarter per dag. Knowing that you won't need antivirus. Att veta att du inte behöver antivirus. Knowing that you won't have hanged apps. Att veta att du inte kommer att ha hängt apps. And exploring something new. Och utforska något nytt.

Well I'm too much of a n00b to give tips, but I can congratulate you! Tja jag är för mycket av en n00b att ge tips, men jag kan gratulera dig!
I've been contemplating dual booting with Ubuntu since sometime now but haven't been able to do it for the fact that I'm tied up with many things and ofcourse, procrastination. Jag har varit överväger flervalsstart med Ubuntu sedan någon gång nu men inte har kunnat göra det för att jag är förbunden med många saker och ofcourse, förhalning.
But I will eventually install Ubuntu and hence I'll bookmark all your linux related posts which could come as a handy reference in future. Men jag kommer så småningom att installera Ubuntu och därmed I'll bokmärke alla dina Linux-relaterade tjänster som kan komma som en praktisk referens i framtiden.
I too had installed Ubuntu few days back and also managed to configure TATA indicom on it. Även jag hade installerat Ubuntu några dagar tillbaka och också lyckats konfigurera TATA Indicom på det. Its really cool working on it, but the support for applications need to be more, only then it can become more popular. Its really cool arbetar på det, men stödet för program behöver mer, endast då kan det bli mer populär. Robust security is one thing I liked on Ubuntu. Robust säkerhet är en sak jag gillade på Ubuntu.
But I have to slightly disagree with you on hanged apps. Men jag måste lite oense med dig på hängd apps. I did have firefox getting hang many times on Ubuntu, not sure what was the real cause. Jag hade firefox få hänga många gånger på Ubuntu, inte säker på vad som var den verkliga orsaken.

@Ashutosh: You should try Linux too – especially if you have a standard broadband modem (which will work out of the box). @ Ashutosh: Du borde prova Linux också - särskilt om du har ett vanligt bredbandsmodem (som kommer att arbeta ur lådan).
@Abhijeet: Ubuntu install takes less time than Windows – I'm not sure why you're still hesitant. @ Abhijeet: Ubuntu installation tar mindre tid än Windows - Jag är inte säker på varför du fortfarande tvekar. Note that dual boots may cause problems like loss of one OS if the other is wiped/reinstalled – that's something I look forward to finding a solution to. @Nirmal: Glad you could get everything working. @ Nirmal: Kul att du kunde få allt att fungera. The only problem for me was the modem – everything else works fine. Det enda problemet för mig var det modem - allt annat fungerar bra. As for Firefox, I am not sure why you had hangs – it probably is because of extensions. Som för Firefox, jag är inte säker på varför du hade hänger - det förmodligen är på grund av förlängningar. Besides, Firefox is slow in Linux too, although a good bit less than Windows Dessutom är Firefox långsamt i Linux också, men en bra bit mindre än Windows

after breaking my head for configuring the display on Ubuntu Hardy, and multiple re-installation I came back to Windows again. efter att bryta mitt huvud för att konfigurera visningen på Ubuntu Hardy, och flera ominstallation jag kom tillbaka till Windows igen.
, other then this problem it was well and good. , Andra kan detta problem var det gott och väl.
