Just a quick note to tell you all that I've finally managed to get my modem to work in Ubuntu Hardy Heron, and I'm alive and kicking on Linux now. Even een kort bericht voor alle vertellen dat ik eindelijk gelukt om mijn modem te werken in Ubuntu Hardy Heron krijgen, en ik ben springlevend op Linux nu.
I've wanted to use Linux for a long time now, but hesitated because my modem didn't work. Ik wilde om Linux te gebruiken voor een lange tijd nu, maar aarzelde omdat mijn modem niet werkte. same happened with me…when i was not able to switch to linux just because my utstar adsl modem does not work with linux…but now i have a netgear adsl modem…will be soon having linux on my machine Hetzelfde gebeurde met mij ... als ik niet in staat was om over te schakelen naar Linux, alleen maar omdat mijn utstar ADSL-modem niet werkt met linux ... maar nu heb ik een Netgear ADSL modem ... zal binnenkort met linux op mijn computer
@Ajay: What's so special? @ Ajay: Wat is er zo speciaal? Knowing that you're using software that is created by the community. Wetende dat je software die is gemaakt door de gemeenschap gebruikt. Knowing that the OS will not crap out and require 12 reboots per day. Wetende dat het besturingssysteem niet zal crap uit en herstart vereisen 12 per dag. Knowing that you won't need antivirus. Wetende dat je geen antivirus nodig. Knowing that you won't have hanged apps. Weten dat je niet hebt opgehangen apps. And exploring something new. En het verkennen van iets nieuws.

Well I'm too much of a n00b to give tips, but I can congratulate you! Nou ik te veel van een n00b ben om tips te geven, maar ik kan je feliciteren!
I've been contemplating dual booting with Ubuntu since sometime now but haven't been able to do it for the fact that I'm tied up with many things and ofcourse, procrastination. Ik heb overweegt dual boot met Ubuntu sinds enige tijd nu, maar niet in staat zijn geweest om dit te doen voor het feit dat ik vastgebonden met veel dingen en natuurlijk, uitstel.
But I will eventually install Ubuntu and hence I'll bookmark all your linux related posts which could come as a handy reference in future. Maar ik uiteindelijk zal Ubuntu installeren en dus zal ik al je bladwijzer linux posten die zouden kunnen komen als een handig hulpmiddel in de toekomst.
I too had installed Ubuntu few days back and also managed to configure TATA indicom on it. Ook ik had Ubuntu paar dagen terug geïnstalleerd en er ook in geslaagd te configureren Indicom TATA op. Its really cool working on it, but the support for applications need to be more, only then it can become more popular. Its really cool werken, maar de ondersteuning voor applicaties moeten er meer zijn, alleen dan het meer kan worden populairder. Robust security is one thing I liked on Ubuntu. Robuuste beveiliging is een ding dat ik graag op Ubuntu.
But I have to slightly disagree with you on hanged apps. Maar ik heb iets niet met u eens opgehangen apps. I did have firefox getting hang many times on Ubuntu, not sure what was the real cause. Ik had firefox steeds hangen vele malen op Ubuntu, niet zeker wat was de werkelijke oorzaak.
@Binny: I mean I hope to write Linux tips – you've probably known it all. @ Binny: Ik bedoel Ik hoop dat ik Linux tips schrijven - je hebt waarschijnlijk bekend is het allemaal. And yes, I meant you as an uber-Linux geek. En ja, betekende dat ik u als een uber-Linux-geek.
@Ashutosh: You should try Linux too – especially if you have a standard broadband modem (which will work out of the box). @ Ashutosh: Je moet proberen Linux ook - vooral als u een standaard breedband modem (die uit het werk van de doos).
@Abhijeet: Ubuntu install takes less time than Windows – I'm not sure why you're still hesitant. @ Abhijeet: Ubuntu installeren kost minder tijd dan Windows - ik weet niet waarom je nog steeds aarzelend. Note that dual boots may cause problems like loss of one OS if the other is wiped/reinstalled – that's something I look forward to finding a solution to. Merk op dat dubbele laarzen problemen zoals het verlies van een OS als de andere kan wordt afgeveegd / geïnstalleerd - dat is iets wat ik kijk uit naar het vinden van een oplossing voor.
@Nirmal: Glad you could get everything working. @ Nirmal: Blij dat je kon krijgen alles werkt. The only problem for me was the modem – everything else works fine. Het enige probleem voor mij was het modem - alles werkt prima. As for Firefox, I am not sure why you had hangs – it probably is because of extensions. Zoals voor Firefox, ben ik niet zeker waarom moest je hangt - het waarschijnlijk is vanwege extensies. Besides, Firefox is slow in Linux too, although a good bit less than Windows Daarnaast is Firefox langzaam in Linux ook, hoewel een beetje minder goed dan Windows

after breaking my head for configuring the display on Ubuntu Hardy, and multiple re-installation I came back to Windows again. na het breken mijn hoofd voor het configureren van het display op Ubuntu Hardy, en meerdere herinstallatie kwam ik terug naar Windows opnieuw.
