Folding@Home is a project by Stanford University to simulate protein folding. It uses a distributed client method to use spare processing cycles on computers with the Folding@Home client installed. F@H client downloads small packets of data every few hours, and processes them when your CPU is idle.
Many F@H partcipants join teams. Teams compete with each other for rankings. One such team is Team Mac OS X (see Team Mac OS X stats at ExtremeOverclocking).
Team Mac OS X
Team Mac OS X has an alternate client, called InCrease. By using InCrease, you will have more control over the folding process – for example, you can set it to folding all the time, while the official F@H client folds only when your computer is idle. Though InCrease is offered by Team Mac OS X, you can use it for any team – all it takes is a change of preference to switch the team.

Join Team Mac OS X
Joining the Team Mac OS X is easy – download InCrease, install it, click Preferences, click New Units and enter Team number 1971. Non-Mac computers can also download and run InCrease.
There are also many other teams – from country based teams to hardware based (Playstation group) and blog groups (Team Engadget) – when you want to join a team, find the team number and enter it in InCrease.
Check your stats
You can view the work units processed by your own computer by visiting the Mac OS X team page and entering your name in the lower left side (see image). If you joined a different team, go to your team’s page and search your name.
