Windows 7, whose previews have been available online for some time now, has revamped some of its default apps like WordPad and calculator. Much excitement has been generated about preview builds of Windows 7 – and to think that they have not even released alpha version yet.
The new Windows 7 calculator can be used on Vista with a little hack – which will be shown here.
There are two options here – either run the Windows 7 calculator separately (which means that you can use the Vista calculator too), or replace the default Vista Calculator. Irrespective of the method you chose, you need to download the Calculator archive containing calc.exe and calc.exe.mui
Before starting, it would be a good idea to back up important files – just so that you do not have to worry in case of a mishap.
Run as Windows 7 Calculator)
Extract the downloaded files and run the file Calc.exe to get the Windows 7 Calculator.
Replace Vista calculator with Windows 7 calculator
- Copy calc.exe to \Windows\System32\.
- Copy calc.exe.mui (inside en-US folder) to \Windows\System32\en-US\ folder.
