gBall is a new Aussie rules football developed by Sherrin, containing some innovative technology from Google. In typical Google fashion, gBall is in beta.
Google, in partnership with the official supplier of matchballs to the AFL, Sherrin, has developed the gBall. Google has built search and location technologies into the gBall.
Some of the features are: measuring kicks using built-in equipment, personalised online kicking tips, alerts when player agents or talent scouts want to speak to you and locating the ball when you loose it. The locating functionality is thanks to GPS, and you can pinpoint it on Google Maps. Google has used AI to provide players with kicking tips (available online), style suggestions and tutorials.
Oh, and, one more thing….gBall is Google’s April Fool’s prank.
