Do you have a direct link to a Flickr photo and need to find the Flickr web page showing that image? You may require web page URL to link to it, find larger sizes of the photograph etc.
Many blogs/websites online (shamelessly) hotlink to Flickr images without linking to the page. Flickr terms of use states that whenever you place an image you’re storing on Flickr on an external web site, you must also include a link back to Flickr. However, our little hack will show you how to get the Flickr page for a photograph.
In this example, I will use the URL http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1338/691515009_c112b9c230.jpg?v=0 (which is the image above).
ADVERTISEMENT
- The part after the last slash, and before the question mark, that is 691515009_c112b9c230.jpg is the file name.
- Take the first part of that, that is 691515009 – this is the photoID that we need. Join the photoID to the end of http://flickr.com/photo.gne?id=
- Thus, the URL becomes http://flickr.com/photo.gne?id=691515009. Visting that URL will take you to the Flickr image page.
