After the much maligned Gates-Seinfeld ad, Microsoft has come back strongly with a series of “I am a PC” ads that try to identify PCs with normal people like you, and break away from the “PCs are for uncool nerds” stereotype. The ad has been generally well received, even from Mac OS X users (!). Learn more about the ads at Life Without Walls website.
I am personally not a big fan of Windows, but I like the theme of identifying a PC with normal people of all kinds. Needless to say, this ad beats the pants off Apple’s cool but slightly jealous “Mac vs PC” ads. Perhaps to connect with users, Microsoft has gone one step further than Apple – you can upload your pictures, and it may even be displayed on giant screens in Times Square. I wish Microsoft had highlighted the positive aspects of Windows in these ads, but perhaps that will be done at a later stage.

To go with the new ad campaign, here is a “Life without Walls” wallpaper (available in various sizes). Thanks Nirmal.
