Download Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex

The latest version of Ubuntu, version 8.10, nicknamed Intrepid Ibex, is now available for download. GNOME 2.24.1 brings new features to Ubuntu.

Other features include:

  • Firefox 3 as default browser
  • FSpot to manage images
  • OpenOffice for office applications, Evolution for calendar/contacts and Pidgin for IM
  • Smarter terminal
  • Mount archives and ISO files
  • Encrypted directory
  • Improved screenshot utility

Download Ubuntu

You can upgrade Ubuntu by going to the upgrade manager – you will see that a new version is available. TorrentFreak has a useful guide on how to force Ubuntu to use BitTorrent while upgrading. Using BitTorrent will give you faster download speeds, and reduce the strain on main Ubuntu servers.
