The latest version of Ubuntu, version 8.10, nicknamed Intrepid Ibex, is now available for download. GNOME 2.24.1 brings new features to Ubuntu.
Other features include:
- Firefox 3 as default browser
- FSpot to manage images
- OpenOffice for office applications, Evolution for calendar/contacts and Pidgin for IM
- Smarter terminal
- Mount archives and ISO files
- Encrypted directory
- Improved screenshot utility

Download Ubuntu
You can upgrade Ubuntu by going to the upgrade manager – you will see that a new version is available. TorrentFreak has a useful guide on how to force Ubuntu to use BitTorrent while upgrading. Using BitTorrent will give you faster download speeds, and reduce the strain on main Ubuntu servers.
You can download Ubuntu from Ubuntu Download page. If you know how to use BitTorrent, I would recommend using the BitTorrent links below to save bandwidth for Ubuntu folks, and to get faster downloads (I’m downloading the torrent as I’m writing this, expect a review soon).
