AMR is an audio compression technique optimized for speech coding. AMR files can be played by media players that you can install, or you can convert AMR files to MP3 format for easier playback and usage.

To convert .amr to .mp3, follow the instructions below:
Convert .AMR to .MP3
Download Media Coder. Media Coder is a free, open-source software that can convert most audio and video formats.
After installation, open Media Coder.
Click the Add icon to add files in AMR format.

Specify the “Output” folder (use Desktop for convenience).
Under LAME MP3, choose ABR and set Bit Rate to 160 Kbps and Algorithm Quality to 0 (to get best quality at lowest file sizes).

Click Start icon to start conversion of .amr files to .mp3.
With these steps, you should have an AMR file converted to MP3 and ready to use. You can also use Media Coder for most other conversions: for example, converting FLAC files to MP3. Great tip, but if you’re on a mac.. you already have the software to convert installed on your computer all you need is Quicktime and iTunes.
