A select few artists have released their albums for free online, and they have been appreciated and welcomed by listeners. Cold Electric has promised to release their next album on Demonoid exlusively for the first few weeks, which is something that I look forward to. The business model of Cold Electric is quite interesting – release free albums to go viral online, and utilize that popularity to land opportunities for live performances. Of course, all of this could be just a pipe dream, but as of now, the future looks bright. Naturligtvis kan allt detta vara bara en önskedröm, men redan nu ser framtiden ljus ut. We are seeing an increasing number of new bands releasing their music for free (Nine Inch Nails, among others). Vi ser ett ökande antal nya band släppa sin musik gratis (Nine Inch Nails, bland annat). Let us hope that better bands also see the positive aspects of this.
