Is Google experimenting with font options in AdSense?

Google AdSense does not have options for modifying font type, size or color. However, there have been reports of Google testing different font types for AdSense, live on various blogs. I managed to grab a screenshot of one such test - two different fonts on three ad units (two boxes and a skyscraper), all on a single page.

Review: Killer Domains[ebook], excellent resource for budding domainers

Domaining is a complex art that requires constant vigilence, hard work, skill and some luck. Anyone who has tried to follow the dream and buy up expensive domains would know that it is no simple task.

To make the task of an aspiring domainer easier, Daniel Scocco, the blogger behind Daily Blog Tips, has released an ebook aptly titled “Killer Domains“. Priced at $17, with 30 pages of content and 25 pages of prefixes/suffixes for domain names, it is affordable (the advice in the book, if used properly, can bring you some solid income which offsets the price of the ebook, as I have done recently).

Which forum software would you recommend?

This blog has not had a post for more than a week because I have been working hard to launch a new blog. The design is complete, ad I am contemplating a forum to go with the blog.

Since I do not plan to make any significant money from the blog or forum, vBulletin is not an option for me. What remains are phpBB, SMF or bbPress.

Are you part of the blogging echo chamber?

Blogging echo chamber refers to the phenomena of echoing news, events etc. (usually time-sensitive content) that other blogs have written. This creates a virtual echo chamber, where you read similar posts everywhere you go.

Examples of these include similar posts when Microsoft first announced its intent to acquire Yahoo. Every other blog you visit would be flooded with rumours, predictions and news of the acquisition attempt.

How to access FTP servers without any software

FTP is used for transfer of large files. Bloggers and webmasters use FTP frequently for uploading files to their server space all the time. FTP transfers usually involve some software installed on the computer. The method usually involves connecting to a particular host server URl, and entering the username and password for access. FTP transfers may be primitive (they do not have much security), but they are still widely used.
