Prevent internal trackbacks with No Self Pings (#)
SEO wisdom suggests that internal linking is good for websites. WordPress users who do the same on their blogs will, however have experienced the trouble of dozens of internal trackbacks (trackbacks from one post you wrote, to another post you linked to).
Since turning off trackbacks was a no-no, I had to manually delete trackbacks each time when I linked within the website. That is, until I found No Self Pings. WP plugin No Self Pings does just that: prevent internal trackbacks.

Good Wp-Plugin, Thanks for sharing. I use disqus comments in my blog, I think Disqus is also a good alternative too

Is there some side effects for having self pings ?

Same question as Aravind, why would you want to disable trackbacks ? I use trackbacks to get to the root of a heavily linked article, and IMO, disabling trackback might result in poor understanding of the article, particularly if a heavy background has been set.

This plugin prevents only internal trackbacks, so that you don’t see a ton of them from your own posts. I deleted internal trackbacks manually until I found this plugin, so this plugin is obviously helpful. YMMV.
