Apple goes greener, recycles iPods and eliminates toxins

Apple has received scathing criticism in the past from environmental groups. Now, in a response to criticism, Apple has unveiled plans to make it greener than its competitors. Atleast that’s what Steve Jobs has in mind.

Steve Jobs gave out details for the company’s efforts to remove toxic substances from its products. Also in the offing is agressive recycling of its own products.

Apple’s plans include total elimination of arsenic, polyvinyl chloride and bromine-based flame retardants in its products.

The California-based company would start a program to take back “unwanted” iPods for environmentally friendly disposal. Now tell me, how many of you have “unwanted” iPods? Not me, anyway.

Jobs wrote that he would give updates of Apple’s efforts least annually.
