Adobe AIR platform was finally taken out of beta. I have been playing around with AIR for some time now, with AIR beta 2, and then beta 3. When AIR 1 was released, I was very excited and downloaded it.

Pownce is a great social networking site, but as with many other things, going to the site for each update is cumbersome, not to mention that it is inefficient and reduces productivity (especially the blogging side of productivity).

Pownce

Pownce, however, has a beautiful Adobe AIR application to send messages, links, files and events - pretty much the standard stuff that you do on the site. Bonus points for speed and aesthetics beauty of the application.

Skin support is one area that Pownce app could improve, seeing how the Twhirl application supports multiple skins.

Download and install the Adobe AIR platform first. Then, go to Pownce AIR app download page, download and install it.

Happy Powncing!

  2. That really looks pretty impressive, but I’m not sure if I’d try that. By this I mean, the whole of Pownce is loosing it’s charm. As a Pro Pownce user, I never really used it (except for the initial two months).

Nevertheless, Adobe AIR is a great piece of technology.

@Thilak: Maybe it is losing charm among us bloggers, but there are thousands of Kevin Rose lovers who’d be on Pownce just for that. Something along Apple fanboyism.

Adobe AIR is turning out to be wonderful, and I’ll using enough apps to write a post abt ( :) )
